"Seeing the unseen symmetry"
I worked on fluid form for my 101 project by looking at the notion of the curve and what part it plays in the world of design.A fluid form can be defined as a substance that continually deforms under an applied stress regardless of how small the force. For this project i looked at work by Zakary Kinnaird and Philips Watts. I liked the idea used by Philips Watts of creating fluid forms from materials without cutting or joining, but by bending which give out abstract and organic forms. For my model i used a thin rectangular sheet of Perspex. By using heat and pressure on the Perspex i got real nice abstract and interesting forms. The model has an unfinished look to it which shows contrast between straight lines and curves. The thing i like about this model is it gives out interesting shadows and effects when different coloured lights are shown at it from various angles.
